Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the state-level school reopening festivities at Kalavoor Government Higher Secondary School.
Special arrangements were made to crown the children with colorful caps and paper crowns. Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty welcomed the new students, and teachers and parents accompanied them with detailed instructions to ensure everything ran smoothly.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan arrived at the school exactly at 9:30 AM to officially inaugurate the state-level school reopening ceremony. He was greeted with a guard of honor by the school band and NCC cadets before being escorted to the stage. Ministers V. Sivankutty, Saji Cherian, and P. Prasad were also present at the event.
The stage came alive with a graceful dance performance to the official school reopening song, performed by the students of Kalavoor School. The lyrics were penned by Bhadra Hari, a student of SVVHSS, Thamarakudy, Kottarakkara, and composed by renowned music director Alphons Joseph. The song marks a historic first—a student’s poem becoming the official school reopening anthem. Singers Anu Thomas, Aleena Mary Shibu, and Jerin George also participated in the musical rendition, with choreography crafted by artists from the Guru Gopinath Dance Village.
The chief minister gifted school bags and learning kits to the new students and officially inaugurated the reopening ceremony. Minister V. Sivankutty presided over the event. Distinguished guests were welcomed to the stage with books in hand. Agriculture Minister P. Prasad and Fisheries & Cultural Affairs Minister Saji Cherian were the chief guests.
A book highlighting the achievements of the Department of General Education was released by the Chief Minister and received by Minister Saji Cherian. In a generous gesture, Kalavoor school students Harishekhar and Hridi donated ₹1 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF), which was accepted by the CM.
Bhadra Hari and music director Alphons Joseph were felicitated on stage for their contributions to the school anthem. Minister V. Sivankutty also released a special edition of Shastrarangam and the campaign book for Jeevitholsavam 2025—Thudi, an anti-drug awareness initiative featuring music and dance.
A grand lunch was organized for students, parents, and guests by the event committee. Local representatives, cultural activists, and the general public took part in making the district-wide school reopening celebrations a grand success.
