National HPV Cancer Awareness Campaign Launched in Kerala

The Kochi leg of the Serum Institute of India’s pan-India awareness initiative “Conquer HPV and Cancer” featured an expert panel discussion on the impacts of Human Papillomavirus (HPV).

Kochi: The national HPV cancer awareness initiative, Conquer HPV and Cancer, organized by vaccine manufacturer Serum Institute of India, has officially commenced in Kerala. The event held in Kochi featured a panel discussion involving leading medical specialists on the implications and health risks associated with human papillomavirus (HPV).

The expert panel included Dr. Jeena Baburaj, Coordinator of the Gynecological Oncology Committee and Consultant Gynecologist; Dr. K. Chithratha, Director of the Institute of Gynae-Oncology and Breast Sciences at VPS Lakeshore Hospital, Kochi; Dr. Agnes Mathew, Senior Consultant at AS SIO MCSH, Muvattupuzha; Dr. Rama P., Additional Professor and Head of Department at the Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram; Dr. Lisamma Joseph, Senior Consultant Gynecologist and Laparoscopic Surgeon at Ernakulam Medical Centre; Dr. M. Narayanan, Consultant Pediatrician at SAN Children’s Clinic and EMC, Ernakulam; and Dr. C. Jayakumar, Head of Pediatrics at AIIMS Kochi.

The discussion was moderated by Dr. Anoop Krishnan, a laparoscopic and cosmetic gynecologist at Smitha Hospital, Thodupuzha.

This initiative aims to raise awareness among the public and healthcare professionals about HPV-related health issues and the critical importance of vaccination and early detection in preventing HPV-related cancers, particularly cervical cancer.
